CREATING REMOTELY SENSED IMAGES:The global unprojected Pathfinder SST files were received in 4km resolution.They were subset to the US and then assigned proper geofererencing coordinates.The images were reprojected, resampled down to 1.1km resolution, and subset again for the final geotif output currently available. Software used was PCI Geomatica 9.0 and EASI programming. The final Geotif files are 8 bit files. 2005-01-01T00:00:00 REPROCESS REMOTELY SENSED IMAGERY:These remotely sensed images were reprocessed to remove land and no data values as well as to calculate the real world values for sea surface temperature (SST). To do so, a script was written in VB 6.0 and run as a macro in ArcGIS 9.1, which reclassed the land (8 bit value = 252) and no data values (8 bit value = 0) as no data. A second macro also written in VB 6.0 calculated the real world value of sea surface temperature (in degrees Celsius) using the following algorithm:SST (deg C) = ((8bit# * 0.15) + (-3.0))The resulting ERDAS Imagine files were subsequently imported into personal geodatabases. 2006-05-01T00:00:00
