The objective of this effort, conducted by NOAA's Center for Coastal Monitoring and Assessment - Biogeography Branch in partnership with The Nature Conservancy (TNC) and Analytical Laboratories of Hawaii (ALH), was to provide spatially-explicit information on the habitat types, biological cover and live coral cover of Palmyra Atoll's coral reef ecosystem. 0.61m panchromatic and 2.44m multi-spectral data from the QuickBird 2 satellite sensor were purchased for the mapping area. Photo-interpreters accurately and reliably delineated boundaries of features from this QuickBird 2 imagery as they appeared on the computer monitor using a software interface. This terrestrial mosaic product was provided in order to be displayed over a deglinted seafloor mosaic so that the terrestrial features are also discernible. Conceptual Consistency This file is believed to be logically consistent. Bands 1 - 7: PCI OrthoEngine Pansharpening module was employed to create a high-resolution color image to be used for visual interpretation by NOAA scientists. It was applied to the QuickBird 2 imagery to increase the spatial resolution of the 2.44 m multispectral data to the panchromatic data resolution of 0.61 m. 2010-01-01T00:00:00 Bands 1 - 7: Geo-referencing of the imagery was performed using PCI OrthoEngine module.
