Simultaneously, autonomous methods consisted of time-lapse cameras deployed at the penguin colonies to photographically record the same daily nesting activities throughout the season. Seabirds observed in this study are Adélie (Pygoscelis adeliae), chinstrap (P. antarctica), and gentoo (P. papua) penguins. Collecting spatially extensive data on phenology and reproductive success is important for seabird conservation and management, but can be logistically challenging in remote regions. Data collected for this study show how autonomous time-lapse camera systems offer an opportunity to provide such coverage.
