The dives were focused on surveying subphotic fish assemblages (300-500 m) in relation to patches of deep corals and relative to regional differences in oceanic productivity. The University of Hawaii HURL assets were used to conduct two studies. First was and evaluation of fish association with precious corals which are the subject of commercial harvest.
