The project is funded under the North Slope Borough s (NSB) State of Alaska Coastal Impact Assistance Program Project #6 Biological and Physical Oceanography of the Chukchi Sea Task I Offshore oceanographic and fish surveys. The purpose of the SHELFZ survey was to characterize the northeastern Chukchi sea oceanographic habitat, distribution and abundance of fish, invertebrates and zooplankton from nearshore (<20 m) to offshore (>20 m). The Alaska Fisheries Science Center s contribution to the survey was to estimate the distribution and abundance of offshore fish and invertebrates in the northeastern Chukchi sea using a standardized survey bottom trawl.
