She is configured to support the UH manned submarines (PISCES-V and PISCES-IV) and ROV operations. Pisces V HOV 2019-03 creation Pisces V HOV The Pisces V, or PV, is a 2,000m (6,280ft) rated ocean exploration human occupied vehicle (HOV) owned and operated by Hawai'i Undersea Research Lab (HURL). Operating from the support vessel R/V Ka'imikai-o-Kanaloa, PV works in tandem with Pisces IV, has a specialized A-frame, can accommodate a three-person crew, and travels at a max speed of 2 knots. Because this submersible is mainly used to observe undersea volcanoes around the Hawaiian Islands, the personnel sphere is 7 foot in diameter and maintains 1 atmosphere of pressure of depths of at least 6,200 ft and has an emergency life support for three people to remain onboard for 5 days. With the ability to dive for long periods of time, PV allows scientists to observe the deep sea through multiple view ports, video recordings from three permanent cameras, sample collecting using two manipulator arms, and environmental monitoring with specialized instruments. RCV-150 ROV 2019-03 creation RCV-150 ROV The RCV-150 is a 914m (3,000ft) rated ocean exploration remotely operated vehicle (ROV) and is used alongside other submersibles. RCV is a tethered vehicle and is controlled by a single pilot from a control console located in the tracking room of the support ship. Because the primary data that is collected is in the form of video, RCV hosts a color video camera with zoom and focus controls, 1500 watts of lighting, micro CTD, Tritech imaging sonar, and a simple manipulator.
