These channels cover the visible (VIS), near-infrared (NIR), shortwave-infrared (SWIR), medium-wave-infrared (MWIR), and thermal-infrared (TIR) spectral regions. AVHRR/3 provides day and night imaging of land, water and clouds, and measures sea surface temperature, ice, snow and vegetation cover. This MetOp-B/C AVHRR Level-3 sea surface temperature (SST) product is derived from AVHRR L2P data and provides satellite SST observations on a 0.02 degree grid. The product is generated using the NOAA Advanced Clear-Sky Processor for Ocean (ACSPO) v2.8x enterprise system.
