The VI EDR consists of two VIs, the Normalized Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI) derived from top-of-the-atmosphere (TOA) reflectances (AVHRR heritage) and the Enhanced Vegetation Index (EVI) derived from atmospherically-corrected, top-of-canopy (TOC) reflectances (MODIS heritage). These products are produced using a combination of the VIIRS Imagery bands at 375 meter resolution. This data set is produced by the NOAA Environmental Satellite, Data, and Information Service (NESDIS) and is distributed by the Comprehensive Large Array-Data Stewardship System (CLASS) as aggregated 5.7 minute files consisting of 4 (86 second) granules in the HDF5 file format with metadata attributes included. Note: This product is deprecated and has been replaced by an updated version produced from NDE (gov.noaa.ncdc:C00939).
