The product contains Cloud Effective Particle Size using VIIRS channel brightness temperatures and reflectances. Inputs required to develop the CEPS algorithm include other VIIRS derived products such as cloud mask, surface albedo, and surface type, and scenario parameters such as sun-sensor geometry. The spectral bands of 0.672, 1.24, and 1.61 micron are used to retrieve daytime CEPS. During nighttime passes the spectral bands of 3.7, 8.55, 10.7625, and 12.013 micron are used. The EDR provides global coverage approximately every 12 hours. By default, IDPS VIIRS CEPS data obtained from the Comprehensive Large-Array Stewardship System (CLASS) are distributed in four aggregated 86-second granules in Hierarchical Data Format v.5 (HDF5) with metadata attributes included.
