The product also contains quality information which provides support information on the quality of fire retrievals. The algorithm utilizes sensor data from the 4 micron and 11 micron spectral bands (M13 and M15), at a spatial resolution of 750 meters at nadir to deliver a list of fire pixels at a given location on Earth approximately every 12 hours. By default, IDPS VIIRS AF data obtained from the Comprehensive Large Array-Data Stewardship System (CLASS) are distributed as aggregated files of four 86-second granules in Hierarchical Data Format v.5 (HDF5) file format with metadata attributes included. This dataset provides a high quality environmental data record (EDR) of active thermal anomalies on the Earth's surface.
