Negative measurements that could not possibly represent the real conditions were deleted. Missing or deleted data are represented as blank cells. Data can be represented geographically as points. No test for spatial relationships between points was performed. The submersible's position relative to the ship is constantly monitored by an ORE Trackpoint II tracking system on board the support vessel, which utilizes active ultra-short baseline technology. The sub carries a depth transponder which allows the tracking equipment to calculate range, bearing and depth of the submersible every 4 seconds. The submersible's crew determines the need for waypoints based on events logged by the sub crew then calcuates the sub's position at each waypoint by averaging the 4-second positions produced by the tracking system. All other measurements are referenced as close as possible to the time of the waypoint (+12/-0 seconds). Accuracy of individual measurements is provided in the Entity and Attributes section.
