Tornado footprints are derived primarily from the National Weather Service Damage Assessment Toolkit (DAT), supplemented by the Storm Events Database (SED) to improve completeness where needed. DAT and SED records are normalized and combined into annual GeoJSON outputs for display and download. Hail footprints are derived from MRMS gridded hail products, which estimate maximum hail size using radar-based processing. Hail values are classified into fixed-size bins and polygonized into daily GeoJSON outputs. The Event Footprint Catalog (EFC) is a NOAA/NCEI web mapping application that catalogs past severe weather events as georeferenced polygon "footprints." Users can explore these event footprints on an interactive map, filter by date, location, and intensity, and download a CSV or GeoJSON export for further analysis.
