The ATCs are required by FAA policy to affirm that they have viewed these briefings prior to taking their stations on shift. The Pre-Duty Weather Briefings provide an overview of current and forecast weather for the next 12 hours, and can give controllers an idea of what to expect. Videos range from approximately 6-14MB each three times daily across 21 centers/offices. Records retention was coordinated with NOAA Records and the National Archive and Records Administration (NARA) and has a records schedule associated with them. They have an annual cut-off and a 5-year disposition schedule. The videos are technically used only by FAA controllers however they are housed on a public website.
