It has a period of record ranging from 1940 to 1998. The observations include (but are not limited to) 6-hourly values of temperature, humidity, cloud coverage, cloud heights, rainfall, and wind speed/direction. IEDRO's mission is to identify, scan and digitize environmental data at risk of loss. Data on paper and film formats are owned by the respective meteorological organizations. IEDRO staff format data files and package the data for submission to the archive. This data will be of tremendous value to scientists who research various phenomena including global climate change, hindcast studies, climate model evaluation, and statistical climate analysis.
