Weather in Alaska and Western Canada is highly spatially variable, so the availability of a high resolution product is necessary for many purposes in many fields, including hydrology, nearshore oceanography, biology and other land management fields. Proportional anomalies, or the ratio between measured monthly precipitation and the PRISM monthly norm at that location, were calculated for precipitation for each month between 1/1961 and 12/2009 at the locations of Alaskan and Canadian weather which reported at least 36 months of data within the period. Absolute anomalies, or the difference between measured monthly precipitation and the PRISM monthly norm at that location, were calculated for temperature. Anomalies were interpolated over the entire grid extent using a splines with tension approach (tension = 0.8).
