During this time the Alaska Department of Fish and Game Habitat Section staff completed 1,051 stream surveys in remote and urban areas, using backpack electrofisher, fish traps, clinometers, tape measures, and rangefinder/hypsometer. Data collected include fish species presence, notable fish habitat features, substrate characteristics, fish barriers, and other additional notes. These data are provided in both Excel spreadsheet and ESRI shapefile formats. The background, purpose, and methods are described in the attached document titled "Fish capture data and stream habitat from Southeast Alaska from 2017-2020 Metadata and Methods". The objective of this project was to identify salmon and steelhead habitats and corresponding life history phases in communities in Southeast Alaska and update the Catalog of Waters Important for Spawning, Rearing or Migration of Anadromous Fishes and its associated atlas accordingly. Between May 2017 and October 2020, Alaska Department of Fish and Game Habitat Section staff completed 1,051 stream surveys in remote and urban areas, resulting in 524 nominations adding 82.78 miles and correcting 83.28 miles in the anadromous waters catalog. This technical report includes maps of areas surveyed and nominations submitted to the anadromous waters catalog. Geospatial survey data is archived by the Alaska Department of Fish and Game and has been submitted to the Alaska Sustainable Salmon Fund.
