The average non-absolute difference (2nd - 1st in the order of analysis) was 0.38 μmol kg-1 and the standard deviation was 1.2 μmol kg-1. The average value is statistically distinguishable from zero, where zero is the ideal result that would indicate all sources of error were random or independent of both time and the amount of carbon titrated within a given cell. It is thought that this error is related to the chemical evolution of the cell solutions with repeated titrations.
