Ship track of the R/V Seward Johnson during the 2002 "Islands in the Stream - Pharmaceutical Discovery, Vision, and Bioluminescence" expedition sponsored by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) Office of Ocean Exploration, August 15 - 31, 2002. This track was based on the hourly ship's position from the Virtual Instrument Data System (VIDS) provided by the University of Miami Marine Technology Group at Harbor Branch Oceanographic Institution.

The original VIDS data files contain ship locations every 3 seconds.
Purpose This data set was compiled to support a demonstration of the prototype NOAA Office of Ocean Exploration Digital Atlas. It was formatted for incorporation into a Geographic Information System database.
