MOST is a suite of numerical simulation codes capable of simulating three processes of tsunami evolution: generation, transoceanic propagation, and inundation of dry land. Tsunami waves are computationally propagated across a set of three nested grids (A, B, and C), each of which is successively finer in resolution, moving from offshore to onshore. Nearshore details are resolved to the point that model output can be directly compared with tide gauge observations and can provide estimates of wave arrival time, wave amplitude and simulation of wave inundation onto dry land. A Grid Resolution: 72 arc-sec. B Grid Resolution: 18 arc-sec. C Grid Resolution: 2 arc-sec. purpose: These grids were constructed for use in tsunami inundation modeling. credit: NOAA/PMEL/Center for Tsunami Research (NCTR) status: (MD_ProgressCode) completed pointOfContact: (CI_ResponsibleParty) organisationName: NOAA PMEL Center for Tsunami Research (NCTR) positionName: NOAA Center for Tsunami Research role: (CI_RoleCode) collaborator resourceMaintenance: (MD_MaintenanceInformation) maintenanceAndUpdateFrequency: (MD_MaintenanceFrequencyCode) irregular graphicOverview: (MD_BrowseGraphic) fileName: https://gis.ngdc.noaa.gov/arcgis/rest/directories/arcgisoutput/DEM_mosaics/DEM_global_mosaic_hillshade_ImageServer/_ags_e3eb854d_d85b_4396_9864_9f2e070c62c3.jpg fileDescription: Thumbnail of DEM fileType: PNG descriptiveKeywords: (MD_Keywords) keyword: Earth Science > Oceans > Bathymetry/Seafloor Topography > Seafloor Topography keyword: Earth Science > Oceans > Bathymetry/Seafloor Topography > Bathymetry keyword: Earth Science > Oceans > Bathymetry/Seafloor Topography > Water Depth keyword: Earth Science > Land Surface > Topography > Terrain Elevation > Topographical Relief Maps keyword: Earth Science > Oceans > Coastal Processes > Coastal Elevation type: (MD_KeywordTypeCode) theme thesaurusName: (CI_Citation) title: Global Change Master Directory (GCMD) Science and Services Keywords date: (unknown) descriptiveKeywords: (MD_Keywords) keyword: Models/Analyses > DEM > Digital Elevation Model type: (MD_KeywordTypeCode) theme thesaurusName: (CI_Citation) title: NASA/GCMD Platform Keywords date: (unknown) descriptiveKeywords: (MD_Keywords) keyword: ICSU-WDS > International Council for Science - World Data System type: (MD_KeywordTypeCode) project thesaurusName: (CI_Citation) title: Global Change Master Directory (GCMD) Project Keywords date: (CI_Date) date: 2020-01-09 dateType: (CI_DateTypeCode) publication edition: 9.1 citedResponsibleParty: (CI_ResponsibleParty) organisationName: NASA Goddard Space Flight Center, Earth Science Data and Information System contactInfo: (CI_Contact) onlineResource: (CI_OnlineResource) linkage: https://www.earthdata.nasa.gov/learn/find-data/idn/gcmd-keywords name: Global Change Master Directory (GCMD) Keywords description: The information provided on this page seeks to define how the GCMD Keywords are structured, used and accessed. The estimate of the RMSE is based on horizontal accuracy tests of the source data which are selected as equal to or less than the intended horizontal RMSE error of the grid. Horizontal positioning of the various source points were compared with each other to verify grid accuracy. result: (missing) report: (DQ_AbsoluteExternalPositionalAccuracy) nameOfMeasure: Vertical Positional Accuracy Report evaluationMethodDescription: The vertical RMSE is used to determine vertical accuracy of the grid. It accounts for systematic and random errors. The accuracy of bathymetric soundings are within 2% of depth. The original topographic soundings are accurate within one-half the contour interval. result: (missing) report: (DQ_CompletenessCommission) evaluationMethodDescription: Errant data points were removed from the various sources before processing the grid. The final grid was visually and statistically inspected for completeness using ArcGIS. result: (unknown) report: (DQ_ConceptualConsistency) measureDescription: Each data set went through a stringent quality control procedure from their respective originators. The developed grid was compared with initial sources, other source control data, and corresponding data between datasets to verify accuracy. result: (unknown) lineage: (LI_Lineage) source: (LI_Source) description: Source Contribution: digital elevation models sourceCitation: (CI_Citation) title: Eureka, California Coastal Digital Elevation Model date: (CI_Date) date: 2009-11-20 dateType: (CI_DateTypeCode) publication citedResponsibleParty: (CI_ResponsibleParty) organisationName: NOAA National Centers for Environmental Information role: (CI_RoleCode) publisher citedResponsibleParty: (CI_ResponsibleParty) organisationName: NOAA National Centers for Environmental Information role: (CI_RoleCode) custodian otherCitationDetails: DEM developed for PMEL. sourceExtent: (EX_Extent) temporalElement: (EX_TemporalExtent) extent: TimeInstant: timePosition: 2009-11-20 return to top metadataMaintenance: (MD_MaintenanceInformation) maintenanceAndUpdateFrequency: (MD_MaintenanceFrequencyCode) annually dateOfNextUpdate: 2017-02-01 contact: (CI_ResponsibleParty) organisationName: NOAA National Centers for Environmental Information role: (CI_RoleCode) publisher |
