All acoustic data were processed through Pamguard's Whistle and Moan Detector. For Hawaiin Islands Humpback Whale National Marine Sanctuary and Papah?naumoku?kea Marine National Monument recorders, a frequency range of 8-20 kHz was selected to encompass the frequency ranges bottlenose dolphins, pan-tropical spotted dolphins, and spinner dolphins. Hours with no detections were assigned as 0 presence. Hours with dolphin were assigned as 1. Presence in an hour was defined as 1+ detected whistles (or part of whistle) so long as it was not a solitary tone. Each detection was not annotated but rather the hour as a whole was marked with a 0 or 1.These data were recorded at SanctSound Site HI04_02 between December 01, 2019 and May 11, 2020. purpose: These data are available to the public for a wide variety of uses including scientific research and analysis. credit: This project received funding from the U.S. Navy. status: (MD_ProgressCode) completed pointOfContact: (CI_ResponsibleParty) organisationName: NOAA National Centers for Environmental Information contactInfo: (CI_Contact) address: (CI_Address) electronicMailAddress: ncei.info@noaa.gov onlineResource: (CI_OnlineResource) linkage: https://www.ncei.noaa.gov/contact name: NCEI Contact Information description: Information for contacts at NCEI. function: (CI_OnLineFunctionCode) information role: (CI_RoleCode) pointOfContact pointOfContact: (CI_ResponsibleParty) individualName: Carrie Wall organisationName: NOAA National Centers for Environmental Information positionName: NCEI Passive Acoustic Archive Lead contactInfo: (CI_Contact) address: (CI_Address) electronicMailAddress: pad.info@noaa.gov role: (CI_RoleCode) pointOfContact resourceMaintenance: (MD_MaintenanceInformation) maintenanceAndUpdateFrequency: (MD_MaintenanceFrequencyCode) asNeeded graphicOverview: (MD_BrowseGraphic) fileName: https://www.ngdc.noaa.gov/mgg/pad/SanctSound/20181009-sound-monitoring-locations-1000.jpg fileDescription: Monitoring locations for the SanctSound project. From 2018 to 2021, these agencies will work with numerous scientific partners to study sound within seven national marine sanctuaries and one marine national monument, which includes waters off Hawai'i and the east and west coasts. Standardized measurements will assess sounds produced by marine animals, physical processes (e.g., wind and waves), and human activities. Collectively, this information will help NOAA and the Navy measure sound levels and baseline acoustic conditions in sanctuaries. This work is a continuation of ongoing Navy and NOAA research, including efforts by NOAA's Office of National Marine Sanctuaries This dataset represents the derived products from the raw acoustic data that are archived at NOAA National Centers for Environmental Information. function: (CI_OnLineFunctionCode) information role: (inapplicable) associationType: (DS_AssociationTypeCode) largerWorkCitation initiativeType: (DS_InitiativeTypeCode) project language: eng; USA topicCategory: (MD_TopicCategoryCode) biota topicCategory: (MD_TopicCategoryCode) oceans extent: (EX_Extent) description: Site HI04_02 geographicElement: (EX_GeographicBoundingBox) westBoundLongitude: -159.586389 eastBoundLongitude: -159.586389 southBoundLatitude: 22.263472 northBoundLatitude: 22.263472 temporalElement: (EX_TemporalExtent) extent: TimePeriod: beginPosition: 2019-12-01T01:00:00Z endPosition: 2020-05-11T21:00:00Z return to top contentInfo: (MI_CoverageDescription) attributeDescription: RecordType: Passive acoustic data contentType: (MD_CoverageContentTypeCode) physicalMeasurement dimension: (MI_Band) sequenceIdentifier: MemberName: aName: timestamp attributeType: TypeName: aName: string descriptor: Time in ISO 8601 date format units: #hour dimension: (MI_Band) sequenceIdentifier: MemberName: aName: presence attributeType: TypeName: aName: double descriptor: Presence of dolphin whistle or moan (0 = not present; 1 = present) maxValue: Real: 1 minValue: Real: 0 units: #binary dimension: (MD_Band) sequenceIdentifier: MemberName: aName: presence attributeType: TypeName: aName: double descriptor: All acoustic data were processed through Pamguard's Whistle and Moan Detector.
