It provides full-disk solar images at high cadence around the clock, except for brief periods during satellite eclipse. The operational goals of the SUVI are to image the solar emissions and temperatures within the EUV spectrum, to locate coronal holes for the forecasting of recurring geomagnetic activity, to locate solar flares for the forecasting of energetic particle events, to assess active region complexity for solar flare forecasting, and to determine the signatures of Coronal Mass Ejections (CME). The processing algorithm used applies several correction and calibration processes in order to generate the photon fluxes for the Level 1b product. The GOES-R Ground System created the files after the SUVI reached Provisional Status. For Sept. 2017 data, NCEI processed Level 0 SUVI data to obtain the L1b data.
