The data include information on epicentral time of origin, location, magnitudes, depth and other earthquake-related parameters. This database is static and is no longer being updated.

Lineage Statement The CD collection was a compilation of all of the earthquake catalogs, both US and non-US, in the National Geophysical Data Center (NGDC) archive available in 1996. The purpose was to provide users with access to all the seismicity data in one place. The data was formatted to be accessed with the NGDC-developed GeoVu software.

  • 2015-04-22T00:00:00 -NOAA created the National Centers for Environmental Information (NCEI) by merging NOAA's National Climatic Data Center (NCDC), National Geophysical Data Center (NGDC), and National Oceanographic Data Center (NODC), including the National Coastal Data Development Center (NCDDC), per the Consolidated and Further Continuing Appropriations Act, 2015, Public Law 113-235. NCEI launched publicly on April 22, 2015.
