      The module is equipped with a subbottom profiler that uses acoustic signals to penetrate the seabed and provides detailed images of the subsurface layers. The Gavia Sub-bottom Profilng Module is derived from field proven Chirp III technology from Teledyne Benthos, pioneers in Chirp Technology. The Chirp Sonar uses digitally produced 14kHz-21kHz acoustic transmission and matched-filter processing to achieve both high resolution and good penetration in soft sediments.
