    <gmi:description>
        <gco:CharacterString>
            The Intershelf-105 is a 130m (~425ft) rated ocean exploration remotely operated vehicle (ROV), and has been continuously updated with new technologies to fit NOAA's expanding missions. The ROV has been retrofitted with new smooth brightness controls, laser pointers for proper sizing of objects, and a softer kevlar armored cable. It is tethered to its research vessel by a 200m cable, contains two horizontal propellers, one vertical propeller, and can travel at a recommended speed of 3 knots. This ROV contains ARCHOS digital cameras transmittable to color monitors on the ship via cable and has been the prime submersible for the joint Russian-United States expeditions at NOAA.
