      The Phantom DHD2+2 is a 600m (2,000ft) rated ocean exploration remotely operated vehicle (ROV), and is part of NOAA's elite ROV fleet. The ROV is tethered to the ship and can conduct independent scientific investigation. The vehicle's depth, heading, and geographic position are also recorded and relayed through the cabling. The Phantom DHD2+2 has four thrusters that provide agile movement and total control. The ROV can be outfitted with multiple cameras on rigs, extra lighting, oceanographic sensors, GPS, compass, and additional instrumentation. The live video is relayed to the surface and shown on video monitors.
