                  The Weather Information Applications Branch explores, develops, and implements techniques that generate products and services that enhance the value of NWS forecast products, like the National Digital Forecast Database (NDFD); techniques for data modeling and web services that support NOAA's dissemination needs; techniques for automating the process for creating complete metadata records for aviation interests. WIAB staff are involved in a variety of prototyping efforts using these promising techniques in order to identify and make recommendations on those best suited for implementation into operations. All such techniques are implemented in software on NWS operational platforms and maintained as those systems evolve.
