The boat was acquired by NOAA Marine Fisheries and refitted as a research vessel. Originally fitted with Detroit diesel engines, the refit included new Cummins diesels and a Cummins Onan/John Deere powered generator for extended offshore stay. The vessel contains berthing for 6, a full galley, and head. Hull updates included the removal of a keel extender and the addition of outriggers for stability in rough seas.
