description:   SeaMarc II is an interferometric, shallow‐tow, long‐range side‐scan sonar system that is capable of producing bathymetry as well as side‐scan images of the bottom in real time. The SeaMarc II and SeaMarc CL were first of their kind, with the SeaMarc II operating at 11 - 12 kHz range. The systems were co-created by the University of Hawaii and the Raytheon Company. The SeaMarc II was developed in the mid-1980's and completed 28 expeditions between 1986 and 1991.
