The system is easy to install, even on smaller vessels. The EM1002 has an accuracy which surpasses both present IHO standards and proposed revisions. The EM1002 is now out of production and Kongsberg has stopped general maintenance of this instrument. The EM 1002 has been replaced by the EM710.
