description:   The Kongsberg Simrad EM 1000 is a high resolution 95 kHz multibeam echo sounding system, designed to operate in waters from less than 3 meters to more than 1000 meters depth. The beam width is 2.3 degrees by 3.3 degrees. The swath width is up to 7.4 times water depth with up to 120 beams (60 per ping). The system is roll-stabilized and the advanced signal processing allows the depth to be calculated with an accuracy in the order of 15 cm or 0.25% of the depth, whichever is greater. An optional hull unit is available providing pitch stabilization and allowing the transducer to be protected inside the hull when not surveying. The EM 1000 multibeam system was in production from 1993 to 1998 and was replaced with the EM 1002.
