description:   The SeaBat 8160 is a 50 kHz Mulitbeam Echo Sounder system that measures relative water depths across a wide swath perpendicular to a vessel's track. The maximum 130 degree swath consists of up to 126 beams and operates in depths ranging from 10 to 5000 meters with a bottom detection resolution of less than 10 centimeters. The SeaBat 8160, first produced in the early 2000's, has been superseded by the SeaBat 7160.
